Petinos Restaurant Overview
3520 Sources Blvd, Dollard-Des Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 1Z9
The one we went to was located in Dollard-des-Ormeaux (DDO) on the West Island of Montreal, Petinos is a very popular breakfast and brunch spot that’s part of a well-known Quebec-based chain. The restaurant has a loyal following, and it’s easy to see why — the portions are large, the menu is extensive, and the atmosphere is cheerful and family-friendly.
It’s typically very busy, especially on weekends, and there’s often a wait to be seated. Fortunately, we had a reservation, which helped speed things up. The staff won’t seat your group until most of your party has arrived, which is standard practice for busy brunch places but something to keep in mind.
The vibe and menu are similar to other breakfast chains like Cora’s and Allô! Mon Coco, offering generous plates piled high with eggs, pancakes, crepes, fruit, and home fries. Service was friendly and efficient, and despite the crowd, food came out fairly quickly.
Would return? No.
Avocado Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict

Enjoyment: 6/10

This was one of the better dishes of the meal. The smoked salmon was fresh and flavourful, pairing nicely with the house-made hollandaise sauce, which was smooth, creamy, and well-balanced.
The avocado added a nice creamy texture and freshness to the dish, complementing the richness of the hollandaise and salmon. The home fries stood out a bit from other places — instead of the usual cubed potatoes, they were long and thin, almost like thick chips. They were decent, though they could have been a bit crispier.
Overall, it was a pleasant and well-balanced breakfast dish, with good flavours and textures that worked well together.
Le Versant

Enjoyment: 5.5/10

Le Versant is one of Petinos’ classic breakfast combos, featuring two eggs any style, choice of crepes, pancakes or french toast (I chose french toast), choice of bacon, sausages, ham or bologna (I chose sausages), fresh fruit, home fries, baked beans, and toast.
I asked for my eggs over medium, but they came out over easy instead — not a huge issue, but a small detail that shows a lack of consistency. The sausages were standard breakfast sausages, nothing special, and the French toast was plain, similar to what you’d find at other chain brunch restaurants.
The home fries, once again, were just okay. I asked for them extra crispy, but even though the kitchen tried, they came out only slightly crisp, with most pieces still soft.
While everything was edible and fine, the overall dish felt generic — a typical brunch plate that doesn’t really stand out.
Bacon and Cheese Victorian Crepes

Enjoyment: 6/10
Price Paid: $19
Benchmark Price: $19
EV Score: 6/10

This dish came with thin, soft crepes generously filled with bacon and cheese. They didn’t skimp on the bacon — every bite had some, and the salty, savoury flavour carried through nicely. The crepes themselves were light and tender, cooked well without being rubbery or overdone.
It was served with a side of house-made hollandaise sauce, which paired nicely with the crepes, adding a touch of richness. Like other dishes here, the portion size was very generous, making it almost too much food for one person.
Overall, it was a solid and filling dish, though similar in taste and quality to what you might find at other breakfast chains.
Final Thoughts
Petinos in Dollard-des-Ormeaux delivers exactly what you’d expect from a busy Quebec brunch chain — big plates, lots of options, and a lively family atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and having a reservation helped make the visit smooth despite the crowd.
While the Avocado Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict stood out for its flavour and presentation, the Le Versant and Bacon and Cheese Crepes were more standard fare. Nothing was bad, but nothing particularly wowed either.
The home fries were unique in shape but average in taste, and the portions were huge, which can be a plus or minus depending on your appetite.
If you’re looking for a casual, reliable breakfast spot in Montreal’s West Island, Petinos is a good option — just don’t expect anything too different from the city’s other big brunch chains.
