Heartbreakers Pizza Restaurant Overview

465 Parkdale Ave, Ottawa, ON K1Y 1H5

Heartbreakers Pizza is easily one of my favourite pizza spots in Ottawa. The restaurant is located on Parkdale Avenue, not far from the highway entrance and exit, which makes it convenient to get to but sometimes tricky for parking. They technically have only two or three spots out front that are designated for the restaurant, but those are almost always full. Most times, you’ll need to find street parking nearby, which isn’t always ideal but manageable if you plan ahead.

The restaurant is only open for dinner service, starting at 4 pm, which means it doesn’t work for a quick lunch run. That said, the evening hours give it more of a destination feel — the kind of place you plan a dinner around rather than somewhere you’d casually drop in midday. If you’re planning to dine in, I’d recommend making reservations. The space isn’t huge, and while they do have several tables in the dining room, it fills up quickly in the evenings.

Inside, the vibe leans cozy and casual but still has a polished feel. It’s a spot that works equally well for date night or for sharing a pizza with friends. Most of my own interactions have been with the staff at the counter since we usually order pizza for pickup, and they’ve always been friendly and welcoming, even if the exchanges are short. From what I’ve seen, the team keeps things running smoothly, and they’re quick to get orders out on time.

Heartbreakers has built its reputation on bold flavours, high-quality ingredients, and consistent execution. Every time I’ve ordered, the food has been excellent, which is a big part of why I keep coming back. It’s one of those rare pizza places where you know you’re going to get the same high standard every time, and that reliability is worth a lot.

The Sweetheart pizza is the perfect showcase of what makes Heartbreakers special. It takes a familiar base — tomato sauce, aged mozzarella, and pepperoni — and transforms it with a couple of bold twists. The jalapeños add just enough heat to wake up your taste buds, while the drizzle of honey ties everything together in a way that’s both surprising and addictive.

The crust deserves just as much praise as the toppings. It’s light yet crisp, with a good chew that doesn’t feel heavy or doughy. Every bite feels balanced — nothing overwhelms, and everything works in harmony. One of the things I appreciate most is that the pizza isn’t greasy. Too many pepperoni pizzas leave you with oil pooling on top, but not here. Instead, it feels like comfort food made with care, where every detail is thought through.

It’s the kind of pizza that makes you pause after the first bite and think, “Okay, this is something special.” And even after finishing the last slice, I found myself wishing there was more.

Final Thoughts

Heartbreakers Pizza is one of those restaurants that has earned its loyal following for good reason. Its location on Parkdale makes it easy to get to, though the limited parking is definitely a drawback. Luckily, the quality of the food more than makes up for the small inconveniences. With dinner-only hours and a smaller dining space, it’s the kind of place you want to plan for — whether that means reserving a table or timing your takeout order.

What keeps me coming back is the consistency. I’ve had the Sweetheart multiple times now, and each time it delivers the same perfect balance of flavours. The mix of sweet, spicy, and savoury is exactly what I want in a pizza, and the crust is some of the best in the city.

The service has always been friendly, even with the short interactions I’ve had at the counter. The dining room looks inviting enough that I’d like to try eating in sometime soon. And with a menu that has plenty of other pizzas to choose from, I’m genuinely looking forward to trying their other creations. If they’re anywhere near as good as the Sweetheart, I know I’ll be in for a treat.

At the end of the day, Heartbreakers Pizza is more than just another pizza place in Ottawa. It’s a restaurant that feels both approachable and special, with a clear focus on doing things right. Whether you’re grabbing takeout on the way home or sitting down for dinner with friends, it’s the kind of spot that leaves you satisfied and already planning your next visit.
