Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine Restaurant Overview
2910 Major Mackenzie Dr E, Markham, ON L6C 0G6
Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine is a slightly upscale dim sum restaurant that blends a modern dining space with attentive service. The restaurant has a polished feel, and the staff are quick to seat guests, take requests, and bring food out in a timely fashion. The service was one of the strongest aspects of the visit, with servers remaining attentive without being intrusive.
Another convenience is the large plaza parking lot, which provides lots of free parking. This makes dining here stress-free compared to other dim sum spots in denser parts of the GTA where parking can be difficult.
The dining room is fairly spacious, and even though itβs a popular restaurant, the seating arrangement allows for a comfortable experience without feeling overcrowded. While the ambiance leans more toward casual than luxurious, itβs perfectly suited for family outings or gatherings with friends.
Overall, Kingsfield delivered great quality dim sum with lots of variety. Some dishes were excellent, while others fell short, but the consistency was strong enough to make the overall experience enjoyable.
Would return?: Yes but only for certain dishes.
Dim Sum – Baked BBQ Pork Pineapple Bun

π Enjoyment: 8/10
π° Price Paid: $9
π― Benchmark Price: $9
π EV Score: 8/10
π Order Again?: Yes.
This was one of the best items at Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine. The bun was soft and fluffy, topped with a crispy, flaky crust that had just the right amount of sweetness. Inside, the BBQ pork filling was savoury with a slight sweetness that paired perfectly with the bun. It was filling, flavourful, and a clear standout among the dim sum offerings.
Dim Sum – Golden Purple Rice Roll

π Enjoyment: 4/10
π° Price Paid: $6
π― Benchmark Price: $5
π EV Score: 3.3/10
π Order Again?: No.
This was disappointing and not what I expected. Instead of a rice roll with a purple-coloured wrapper, it came as more of a bun filled with purple rice. The flavour was bland and unmemorable, lacking the freshness or texture that dim sum rice rolls usually provide. Definitely a skip for me.
Dim Sum – Rice Roll with Shrimp & Chives

π Enjoyment: 7/10
π° Price Paid: $9
π― Benchmark Price: $8
π EV Score: 6.2/10
π Order Again?: Yes.
A classic dim sum dish done well. The rice roll wrapper at Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine was thin, silky, and soft, while the shrimp inside were perfectly cooked with a bouncy texture. The chives added a nice aromatic layer that rounded out the dish. A reliable and enjoyable option.
Dim Sum – Rice Roll with Dough Fritter & Dried Scallops

π Enjoyment: 6.5/10
π° Price Paid: $7
π― Benchmark Price: $7
π EV Score: 6.5/10
π Order Again?: No.
This was a mixed bag. The crispy dough fritter inside added good crunch, and the rice roll wrapper was fine. The dried scallops were mild and didnβt stand out, making the dish feel a bit flat. It was decent overall, but there are better rice roll options here.
Dim Sum – Spare Ribs with Taro and Black Bean Sauce

π Enjoyment: 8/10
π° Price Paid: $6
π― Benchmark Price: $6
π EV Score: 8/10
π Order Again?: Yes.
This was a satisfying dish. The spare ribs at Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine were tender and juicy, coated in a black bean sauce that packed plenty of flavour. The addition of taro was a nice touch β soft, earthy, and a good contrast to the meat. A worthwhile order that Iβd get again.
Dim Sum – Steamed Bun with Custard Filling

π Enjoyment: 6.5/10
π° Price Paid: $7
π― Benchmark Price: $7
π EV Score: 6.5/10
π Order Again?: No.
The bun itself was soft and had the right texture, but the custard filling was underwhelming. It lacked richness and tasted a little plain compared to the vibrant custard buns you can find elsewhere. It wasnβt bad, but it didnβt stand out.
Dim Sum – Steamed Glutinous Rice with Dried Scallop & Salted Egg Yolk (Lotus Leaf Wrap)

π Enjoyment: 8/10
π° Price Paid: $7
π― Benchmark Price: $7
π EV Score: 8/10
π Order Again?: Yes.
A well-prepared sticky rice dish. The rice had the right chewy consistency, and the filling of ground pork was savoury and satisfying. The salted egg yolk added richness, though the portion of filling could have been more generous. Still, it was enjoyable overall.
Dim Sum – Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow)

π Enjoyment: 7.5/10
π° Price Paid: $9
π― Benchmark Price: $9
π EV Score: 7.5/10
π Order Again?: Yes.
The har gow at Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine were plump and generously filled. The shrimp had that ideal bouncy texture, and the wrappers were thin but sturdy enough to hold everything together. Pricey, but the quality matched.
Dim Sum – Turnip Cake

π Enjoyment: 6/10
π° Price Paid: $6
π― Benchmark Price: $6
π EV Score: 6/10
π Order Again?: No.
This was one of the weaker dishes. The turnip cake lacked the expected crispy seared exterior, and the flavour was muted. It felt like it was missing seasoning, making it forgettable compared to stronger dim sum staples.
Final Thoughts
Kingsfield Chinese Cuisine is a solid dim sum option in Markham with several highlights, including the BBQ pork pineapple bun, shrimp & chive rice rolls, and spare ribs with taro. The restaurant benefits from its plaza location with plenty of free parking, a comfortable dining space, and attentive service that sets it apart from some other busy dim sum restaurants.
While not every dish was a hit, the overall quality was high, and the variety ensures that thereβs something for everyone. A few misses like the golden purple rice roll and turnip cake donβt take away from the fact that this is still a good place to satisfy dim sum cravings in the area.
