Susu Siam Thai Kitchen is a very pleasant surprise in Scarborough. From the moment you walk in, it feels more elevated than the typical casual Thai restaurant. The space has a low-light ambiance, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that works well for both date nights and small group dinners. It’s refined without being intimidating.

There is a decent amount of parking available in the plaza parking lot, which makes visiting convenient. No need to worry about circling side streets or feeding meters — always a plus, especially during dinner hours.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive without hovering. Dishes came out at a good pace, and overall the experience felt smooth and organized.

Susu Siam strikes a nice balance: the setting feels polished, but the food remains comforting and approachable. After this visit, it’s clear why it has built a strong local following.

The Hat Yai Chicken Wings from Susu Siam Thai Kitchen were an excellent way to start the meal.

They were nicely crispy on the outside, with a satisfying crunch that didn’t feel overly greasy. Inside, the chicken was moist and well seasoned, which is exactly what you want from fried wings.

The crispy fried onions added another layer of texture, and the spicy tamarind sauce on the side brought tangy heat that complemented the richness of the chicken.

One thing to note is that the wings are served with the wing tips attached. Some people are used to just the drumette and wing portion, so this might catch a few diners off guard. That said, it didn’t detract from the quality.

Overall, a strong appetizer and a good introduction to the kitchen’s execution.

The Mango Salad from Susu Siam Thai Kitchen was a bright and refreshing starter.

The mango slices were thin and mostly sweet, with a pleasant natural flavour. The addition of cashews on top was a great touch, adding crunch and nuttiness that elevated the dish.

The dressing was balanced — not overly sweet, not overly sour — and it provided a nice contrast to the heavier curries and noodle dishes that followed.

It’s not a complex dish, but it was well done and enjoyable.

The Khao Soi from Susu Siam Thai Kitchen delivered exactly what you want from this Northern Thai classic: warmth and comfort.

The coconut curry broth had a rich, balanced flavour, with depth from the spices but without overwhelming heat. The egg noodles were decent and absorbed the broth nicely. The meat was tender and satisfying, complementing the creamy curry base.

The toppings — red onions, pickled vegetables, crispy onions, and cilantro — added texture and brightness, keeping the dish from feeling too heavy.

Overall, this was a comforting and well-executed bowl that hit the right notes.

The Massaman Curry Braised Beef from Susu Siam Thai Kitchen was another standout.

The beef was very tender, slow-braised to the point where it easily broke apart with each bite. The Massaman curry itself was rich and aromatic, with that signature blend of sweetness and mild spice.

The tamarind sauce added depth and subtle tang, balancing the richness of the coconut base. Potatoes and peanuts rounded out the dish nicely, giving it both texture and heartiness.

This is the kind of curry that feels both indulgent and comforting at the same time. It’s easy to see why Massaman is a favourite for many Thai food lovers.

The Pad Kee Mao Shrimp from Susu Siam Thai Kitchen was my favourite dish of the night.

The large flat rice noodles had a beautiful soft texture without being mushy. They were cooked just right and coated evenly in the sauce.

The sauce itself was extremely well balanced — not overly sweet, not overly salty, and full of flavour. The basil and aromatic ingredients gave it depth without overpowering the dish.

The shrimp were cooked properly, with that slight snap that indicates they weren’t overdone. Every bite felt cohesive and satisfying.

This is a dish I would absolutely order again.

To finish, we had a Thai Coffee.

It was smooth, creamy, and soothing, tasting exactly as expected. The sweetness and creaminess balanced the bitterness of the coffee well, making it a pleasant way to end the meal.

Nothing experimental here — just a classic executed properly.
